Hematology

Since animals cannot speak for themselves, we use their blood as a window into their bodies. Abnormalities in the blood can provide clues as to the presence of underlying disease (e.g. inflammation) and can be diagnostic in itself, e.g. can reveal a leukemia.

Biochemistry

Biochemistry tests are a key part of veterinary medicine, providing a comprehensive picture of a pet’s health:

• A biochemical test analyzes a pet’s blood, urine, or other bodily fluids to measure and detect biochemical substances. These substances include enzymes, electrolytes, proteins, glucose, lipids, and metabolites.
